Henry Tyler, affectionately called “H.T.” is the Vice President of Productions and Program Director of Highland Park/Detroit based media outlet WHPR Radio 88.1 FM, UHF TV 33 and Comcast Cable 20 Detroit.  Henry is a master behind the camera, in front of the camera, engineering a radio show or hosting his own.  In other words, not much has been conceived of in broadcast media that he hasn’t mastered.  Not only is he a genius when it comes to technical and music history, Henry is the epitome of a ‘go to’ man.

Henry launched his career in broadcasting after being graduated from the Electronic Institute of Technology and he accepted an internship at historic WGPR 107.5 FM.  In his many years at the station he served as a master production specialist and then began producing shows for R.J. Watkins. That professional relationship has spanned more than thirty years. Henry and R.J. Watkins soon became household names in the Metro Detroit community.  Their penchant for creative commercials and interviews are legendary.  However, Henry

is the unsung genius who performs production miracles and gives technical direction that teaches and preserves professional standards daily.

Henry’s commitment to WHPR Radio 88.1 FM, UHF TV 33 and Comcast Cable 20 Detroit is one of diligence and service to the community.  He does whatever needs to be done in order to fulfill the station’s mission of service, education and entertainment to the Detroit community and globally.  H.T. supervises the broadcasting activities and special projects, does editing, voiceovers and hosts his own radio and television shows, “H.T.’s Classic oldies” and “H.T.’s Video Memories”. He is also the co-host of “Late Night Entertainment” with R.J. Watkins.

Henry Tyler, a husband and father is a consummate professional who loves a challenge. With a new, groundbreaking, historical collaborative effort between WHPR TV33 and WGPR 107.5 FM is coming into fruition, Henry proudly says, “No one is doing it this way. It will be the first of its kind and thus make worldwide news and history.”

The union will result in greater customer service, Watkins said. And, the partnership will create an entertainment channel combining radio and television.   This new venture will have a great tremendous impact on the community and nationally.   RJ Watkins has positioned WHPR to be a voice for the community and a pacesetter for media outlets globally.

Henry believes that the success of WHPR Radio 88.1 FM, UHF TV 33 and Comcast Cable 20 Detroit has been well worth all his efforts.  He quotes the late Erma Bombeck when he says, “when I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope
